Ravi Gupta, the leader of OPG Group of Industries, attributes much of his success to his grandfather, Mr. Durga Duttji. After the tragic loss of his first son, Om Prakash, Duttji took his first grandson under his wing, molding him into a capable businessman from a young age. His approach was reminiscent of a traditional Gurukula, allowing Ravi to blend into the world of business seamlessly. One of the most valuable lessons Duttji imparted was the importance of learning from mistakes. "Dadaji encouraged us to make our own errors, guiding us afterwards on where we went wrong," Ravi recalls. "He taught me everything, and it’s because of him that we’ve come this far." Through Duttji’s mentorship, Ravi not only mastered the technical aspects of the trade but also gained insight into man management and the subtleties of soft power. He honored his grandfather’s investment in him by significantly increasing the capacity at Durga Rubber Works, scaling production from 100 cycle tubes a day to an impressive 1,000. Reflecting on his journey, Ravi states, "I have struggled in life, but I have been successful. I have no regrets. Life has been a series of entrepreneurial challenges."
